Project Manager - Multiple Engineering Projects
Christchurch, Dorset
Up to £55,000 plus pension plus wider package
37.5 hours per week
Are you an experienced Project Manager who enjoys variety and pace or a Project Engineer who has been running smaller schemes and feels ready for that next proper step into full project management?
This is a great opportunity to join a Global Engineering Company in Christchurch where you will look after a portfolio of projects rather than one huge programme. It is busy, interesting work with lots of customer interaction plus plenty of scope to put your own stamp on how projects are delivered.
The Project Manager role
You will join the operations function as a Project Manager with responsibility for planning, executing and delivering multiple projects at the same time. The work sits in a technical engineering environment so you will be close to design, production and site activity.
Typical portfolio size can be 15 to 20 live projects at any one time. Values and complexity vary so you will need to be comfortable spinning several plates and prioritising effectively.
Key points include:
Own the project from order through to completion and warranty
Define and maintain project schedules with clear milestones
Coordinate activities across engineering, planning, procurement, production and site teams
Lead regular project meetings to review progress, risks and budgets
Act as the primary point of contact for the customer throughout the project lifecycle
Monitor cost and hours against budget and highlight deviations early
Manage contract changes then liaise with commercial or sales colleagues where required
Ensure quality documentation and inspection records are completed before shipping
Work with logistics to organise packing and shipping in line with contractual terms
Support site activities for installation and commissioning when needed
Close projects out properly so lessons learned feed into continuous improvementYou will be encouraged to challenge how things are done, suggest improvements and help refine the way projects are delivered.
