The aims of the Transport Service are to provide safe,accessible and efficient transport means to vulnerable people in order thatthey can participate in the services offered by Day Opportunities forvulnerable people throughout North East Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.

Main duties of the job

Job title: Transport Team Leader

Department: Transport

Base: Cromwell Road Resource Centre / Doughty Road Depot

37.5 hrs a week, permanent

Salary Range 5 £29,317 - £35,715 per annum - you will be appointed on a fixed point within the range

You willundertake the day to day management of a team of transport staff, delivering acomprehensive and professional service, ensuring all Health andSafety regulations and Road Traffic legislation are adhered to in relation totransportation and vehicle safety. Youwill co-ordinate the transport operations to satisfy the needs of the customersthrough the efficient usage of the fleet. You will be required to drive vehicles as and when needed.

You must hold a D1 driving entitlement and a level 4 Supervision/Managementqualification or equivalent level of competence. You should have experience of managing, recruiting anddelivering training to staff and ideally have previous experience of working withvulnerable adults with a range of needs. It is also essential that you haveexperience of working within a transport environment, have effective customercare and decision making skills and are competent in the use of Microsoftoffice including Word, Outlook & Excel. A working knowledge ofrelevant legislation is also required.

We would also welcome applications from candidates who meet the majority of the essential criteria, as training and support can be given to the right applicant to gain all the essential criteria within a set timescale.

Person Specification


Knowledge & Skills

* Effective IT skills including use of M365 applications, including but not limited to Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word and Teams
* Working knowledge of relevant legislation e.g. Drivers Working Hours, Health and Safety Regulations, Road Traffic legislation
* Good geographical knowledge of local area of responsibility
* Effective customer care skills
* Ability to deal with Emergency situations in a calm and effective manner
* Effective communication skills both verbal and written
* Able to work to tight deadlines
* Effective organisation and planning skills
* Ability to build positive inter-personal relationships with a range of different people e.g. service users, carers, work colleagues
* Ability to use initiative and problem solve


Experience

* Experience of supervising and recruitment and selection of staff
* Experience of working within a transport environment, including fleet maintenance
* Experience of working with a range of individuals, service user, carers, staff and other services.
* Experience of driving vehicles, carrying up to a maximum of 16 passengers
* Experience of carrying out Risk Assessments and comprehensive vehicle safety checks
* Experience of working with vulnerable adults with a range of needs with communication difficulties
* Experience in dealing with both internal departments and external agencies


Qualifications

* D1 driving entitlement
* Level 4 qualification in Leadership, Business Management, logistics or similar related discipline
* Literacy and numeracy qualification
* Moving and Handling Certificate or willingness to undertake and complete
* First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake and complete
* Level 2 qualification in computer applications or equivalent level of experience
* P.C.V driving licence with manual transmission entitlement
* Driver Qualification Card (CPC)


Other

* Ability to demonstrate commitment to CPG core values
* Ability to work flexibly in order to meet the needs of the service
