Head of Procurement
Location: London (4 days on site)
Salary: £65,000 – £70,000 per annum Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week
Job Purpose This is a senior leadership role, responsible for managing and optimising the hospital’s procurement and supply chain functions. You’ll oversee approximately £25m in goods and services spend, ensuring a professional, efficient, and patient-focused supply chain service.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement
* Lead and execute the hospital’s procurement strategy.
* Monitor market trends, supply chain risks, and cost-saving opportunities.
* Use digital procurement tools (e.g., ERFX) to streamline sourcing.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to align procurement with organisational needs.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory, ethical, and internal policies.
* Lead vendor negotiations and manage contract renewals.
* Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes.
Supply Chain Management
* Oversee supply chain operations across all hospital departments.
* Ensure the availability of goods and services to support high-quality care.
* Review stock usage and redeploy slow-moving items to reduce waste
* Align stock levels with departmental activity to improve efficiency
* Identify and deliver working capital improvement opportunities.
Team Leadership & Development
* Build and manage a high-performing procurement & supply chain team.
* Lead the change process toward a best-in-sector function.
* Provide training and mentorship to support professional growth.
* Embed a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Skills & Knowledge
* Strong experience with stock and inventory management in complex environments
* Proficiency in stores procedures (rotation, replenishment, returns)
* Advanced data analysis and risk assessment capabilities
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
