You will support the delivery of engineering, procurement, and manufacturing activities across several core areas on a major UK-based nuclear new build project. These roles are crucial in advancing engineering progress and securing the supply chain ahead of Final Investment Decision (FID), with a strong emphasis on replicating the proven design model from a previous large-scale project. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including supply chain experts, responsible designers, quality teams, and key suppliers, to prepare and execute project delivery across one of the following areas:
* MEH (Mechanical, Electrical & HVAC): Supporting the development and implementation of the MEH delivery model and alliance, incorporating key learnings from prior programmes.
* Nuclear Island (NI): Managing systems, buildings, and contracts (up to £100m in value) within the NI programme.
* Civil Works: Supporting strategy development and delivery of work packages (up to £50m), spanning engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning.
* Conventional Island & Balance of Plant (CI/BOP): Overseeing contracts (up to £100m) for engineering and ensuring safe, on-time, and within-budget delivery of business-critical systems and structures.
Principal Accountabilities
* Lead delivery of engineering studies and contracts to meet project schedule and quality standards.
* Prepare post-FID contracts including technical specifications and terms & conditions.
* Drive site-specific design changes and integrate them into engineering deliverables and procurement contracts.
* Manage interfaces between internal disciplines and external contractors to ensure coordination and coherence.
* Engage early with stakeholders and suppliers to address obsolescence and risks to replication.
* Support procurement processes and evaluate technical submissions from potential suppliers.
* Capture and apply lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle.
* Define work scope and ensure delivery to specification, cost, and time.
* Oversee engineering for systems and components, particularly within CI and BOP areas.
* Develop and implement plans in alignment with the wider Programme Execution Plan (PEP).
* Monitor cost, risk, schedule, and change using project controls tools, including Earned Value.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Essential:
* Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary design and procurement efforts.
* Track record in project management or project engineering from concept through to delivery.
* Engineering background (mechanical, electrical, civil, process, or systems) in complex industrial environments.
* Strong understanding of interface management in major infrastructure projects.
* Familiarity with contract procurement (design, manufacturing, or installation).
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Capable of managing consultants, engineers, and technical advisors across complex projects.
* Demonstrated success in managing:
o Engineering design and contract execution strategies
o Large-scale EPCM projects
o Cost, schedule, risk, and change management
o Commercial negotiations and claims resolution
