Location: St Albans & surrounding areas
Salary: £93 – £110 per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, long-term position with potential to become permanent
Role Overview
Are you looking to move away from a standard office job and into a role where you can truly see the impact of your work? We are seeking a SEND Learning Support Assistant to join our partner schools in St Albans.
In this role, you will be the bridge between a student and their education. You will work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to support pupils either one-to-one or in small groups, helping them navigate the school day, access the curriculum, and develop vital social and emotional skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Tailored Support: Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEN (including Autism, MLD, and PMLD).
* Classroom Collaboration: Assist the teacher in delivering engaging, structured learning activities.
* Emotional Coaching: Support behavior management and use emotional regulation strategies to help students feel safe and focused.
* Building Confidence: Help pupils develop independence, life skills, and the confidence to succeed.
* Creating a Safe Space: Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
Typical Requirements
We value personality, empathy, and resilience above all else. Ideally, you will have:
* Transferable Experience: Previous experience working with people—this could be in a school, care setting, youth work, or even high-pressure hospitality/retail.
* Mindset: A strong understanding of SEN or a genuine willingness to learn (we provide the training!).
* Communication: Strong interpersonal skills and a team-player attitude.
* Clearance: An enhanced DBS check (we can help you apply for this).
Why Apply Through Us?
* Stability: Enjoy the security of a long-term role with a clear path to a permanent school contract.
* Free Training: Access to specialist training in SEN support strategies, such as Autism Awareness and Positive Behavior Management.
* Career Launchpad: Gain invaluable experience for future careers in teaching, educational psychology, or speech and language therapy.
* Local Impact: Work in reputable schools right in the heart of St Albans, avoiding the heavy London commute.
