We are looking for a highly motivated nurse who is passionate about delivering high standards of nursing care to ensure a positive patient experience. Due to the dynamic and diverse nature of the department, the post holder will be exposed to a wealth of acute emergency patients providing ample opportunities to enhance their skills. The departments approach to care requires all personnel to work closely with all members of the Multi-disciplinary team in order to provide effective and safe care.
It is essential that the successful candidate is a professional, diplomatic and caring, as you will be challenged with the varied demands of the department, which at times is very unpredictable. The applicants must have two years ED experience and must have completed their triage training.
You must have the ability to prioritise your working day under pressure, and knowledge of patient flow is essential.
Main duties of the job
An experienced and competent health care professional who supports the Clinical Nurse Manager in the leadership and management of clinical excellence by making best use of the team, developing and implementing policy and guidelines, and by leading on improvements. The post holder will work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families and take an active part in line management, leadership and development of the team
Job responsibilities
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care according to changing health care needs and varying levels of complexity
* Implement change and best practice in terms of patient flow, admission and discharge arrangements according to service plans and objectives, by providing clinical expertise, advice and guidance
* Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team/agencies to ensure that patient needs are met, especially in relation to on-going care needs and discharge arrangements
* Involve patients, relatives/carers in the delivery of care, providing reassurance and support to assist their understanding and co-operation
* Ensure that the clinical area is safe for practice by ensuring that cleanliness is maintained, materials and equipment are ready for use, including clearing away afterwards
* Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations, ensuring that others do so
* Collect, collate, and report information, ensuring that accurate patient records/documentation are maintained
