Hays are working with a Secondary School in Crawley who are seeking a highly organised and experienced School Business Manager with a strong HR focus to join a school in Crawley for an immediate start.
This role is ideal for someone with a solid background in education HR, staff management, andpliance, who can confidently lead on people-related processes within a fast-paced school environment.
Key Requirements
1. Proven experience in a School Business Manager role or education-based HR position
2. Strong knowledge of HR processes within schools (recruitment, onboarding, contracts, staff records)
3. Experience handling employee relations, absence management, and performance processes
4. Up-to-date understanding of safeguarding andpliance in education
5. Ability to work closely with Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
6. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential)
Key Responsibilities (HR Focus)
7. Lead on all HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, and safer recruitmentpliance
8. Maintain accurate andpliant staff records, contracts, and a single central record.
9. Advise SLT on HR policies, procedures, and employment matters
10. Manage absence, disciplinaries, grievances, and performance processes
11. Ensurepliance with safeguarding, KCSIE, and employment legislation
12. Support workforce planning and contribute to staff development initiatives
