Job Overview
This post will triage referrals into the Gynaecology service using approved triage criteria and tools, supported by the Lead Triage Nurse and the Consultant team. The post holder will be responsible for accepting, rejecting, upgrading and downgrading referrals into the service.
Main duties of the job
Act as the first point of contact when a referral comes into the service from primary care or another specialty. Manage all referrals, determine the level of urgency and appropriateness, with support from the Lead Triage Nurse. Make complex decisions related to patients experiencing a variety of gynaecological symptoms with varying severity in a fast‑paced environment.
Pay
The Agenda for Change Pay Award for 2026/27 is effective from 1 April 2026. Successful applicants with a start date from 1 April 2026 onwards will be paid according to the 2026/27 pay award.
Qualifications and Knowledge – Essential criteria
* Registered Nurse – degree level
* Additional training and/or experience and/or enhanced practice to post‑graduate diploma level equivalent
* Extensive experience in gynaecology
* Previous training in risk management
* Evidence of continuous professional development

* Relevant experience at Band 5 or equivalent
* Evidence of working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team
