The Work You’ll Do
The Sales Engineer will work with the Direct Sales and Alliance teams to provide technical support during the sales cycle for our solutions within Sovos’ Indirect Tax Technology Suite (ITTS). The Sales Engineer acts as the bridge between sales and product, professional services & support, utilizing technical expertise to support the sales team and deliver solutions that meet customer needs. The role requires strong communication and cross-functional collaboration to execute complex sales initiatives and deliver robust sales strategies, product demonstrations, and technical support to clients and internal teams. The Senior Sales Engineer will report to the Sales Engineering Manager – Europe.
More Specifically You Will
* Provide superior domain expertise around ITTS solutions
* Maintain expert-level understanding of functionality and technical architecture of our products
* Assist in the client discovery process to uncover challenges and desired solution architecture; review discovery questionnaires to document customer landscape and identify sales opportunities
* Develop an understanding of customer needs and align Sovos solutions to meet requirements
* Work closely with Sovos’ Sales to conduct sales and solutions presentations
* Collaborate with Professional Services and product teams to ensure successful onboarding post-sale
* Maintain and improve demonstration capabilities to present key features and benefits of Sovos solutions
* Conduct in-depth technical presentations and product demonstrations to prospects and clients
* Act with integrity and demonstrate ethical behavior with all stakeholders
* Take responsibility for internal and external customer satisfaction
* Demonstrate self-awareness and commitment to personal development
* Focus on process improvement and optimizing sales workflows to drive revenue growth and customer satisfaction
* Develop and lead training sessions within and outside the Sales Engineer department
* Serve as a subject matter expert for RFP and RFI responses for prospective new clients
What We Need From You
* Bachelor’s in a related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education
* Minimum 1 year of Sales Engineer experience or equivalent
* Ability to think strategically about business outcomes and manage day-to-day details and deadlines
* Strong team orientation and collaboration in a fast-paced environment
* Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize activities
* Thorough knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
* Strong business ethics and discretion
* Self-motivated with a strong drive to succeed
* Solid knowledge of different communication protocols (e.g., APIs, SFTP, AS2) and delivery formats (e.g., IDOC, EDI, XML, UBL)
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; multiple language skills preferred
* Moderate travel required for client meetings, events, and projects
