About the Role

Senior Support Worker - (DBIT North)
Fixed Term, Full Time – 12 month secondment or fixed term contract opportunity.

£25,395 to £32,131 per annum. Location: Colchester. Working style: Community-based worker.

Children and Families Service is recognised as a service where social work can develop and prosper, with a culture of collaboration, integrity and compassion. We protect children from neglect and abuse, promoting development and well‑being of children, young people and their families. Working with partners, we deliver early help, family support and effective social work interventions that build resilience and enable families to look forward to a brighter future.

The Divisional Based Intervention (D‑BIT) Service, established in 2012, has a proven evidence base for improving outcomes for young people and their families. D‑BIT Core teams work across the four quadrants, focusing on children aged 8 to 17. We use a Solution Focused intervention to support families in communicating, building on strengths and ensuring children can remain safely at home. Caseloads are small, offering frequent engagement with families.

* Collaborate with DBIT colleagues, frontline social workers, managers and other professionals to improve outcomes for children.
* Participate in professional supervision as per Children and Families policy and DBIT supervision processes.
* Support and attend planned activities facilitated by the DBIT service for families, including one residential activity per year that may require an overnight stay.
* Attend training and development events as required.
* Work in line with ECC Equality and Diversity policy and Children and Families Anti‑Racist strategy.
* Work flexibly according to business needs and in accordance with health and safety policies.
* Be committed to evidence‑based practice.
