We are seeking a passionate English Teacher to join a vibrant Secondary School serving the Newport and Saffron Walden area. This is a full:time, long:term opportunity for a specialist who can deliver both English Language and Literature across Key Stages 3 and 4. We want a teacher who doesnt just teach for the exam, but fosters a lifelong love for the written word.
Your Impact in the Classroom
* Literary Exploration: Lead students through an analytical journey of diverse texts, from Shakespearean drama to 21st:century dystopian fiction.
* Creative Expression: Facilitate workshops that sharpen students creative writing skills, focusing on narrative structure, evocative imagery, and persuasive rhetoric.
* Critical Analysis: Teach students how to deconstruct complex themes, character motivations, and linguistic devices to build sophisticated essays.
* Exam Readiness: Guide Year 11 cohorts through the rigors of GCSE English Language and Literature, using targeted feedback to turn good analysis into outstanding critical insight.
* Oracy and Debate: Create a classroom environment where every student feels confident participating in high:level discussions, debates, and presentations.
* Textual Contextualisation: Help students understand how historical and social contexts influence the literature they read, bringing the pages to life.
Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS is mandatory.
* A relevant degree in English Literature, English Language, or a closely related field.
* Proven experience teaching the UK English curriculum at the Secondary level.
* Excellent communication skills and a talent for making complex narratives accessible and engaging.
* An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one).
