About The Role
The UK Institute for Technical Skills & Strategy (UK ITSS) is a national body advocating for technical professionals in higher education and research, funded by Research England. As the home of the Technician Commitment, we champion technicians’ critical role in teaching, research and innovation.
In this role, you will:
* Support the delivery of the organisation’s marketing, communications and engagement strategies
* Create compelling content for digital channels, including email campaigns, newsletters, website updates and social media
* Manage and monitor social media channels
* Share research insights from our Research and Policy Group with our stakeholders
* Promote our Herschel Programme for Women in Technical Leadership, the Executive Programme for Strategic Technical Leadership, training and development opportunities and T Level industry placements
* Engage with the Technician Commitment community to share best practice and support twice-yearly events
* Gather analytics to support the team’s data-driven approach to marcomms delivery
Based at the University of Nottingham, you’ll be part of our small marketing, communications and engagement team championing technicians nationally. There will be some travelling to events outside of Nottingham required for this role.
This is an exciting stage for UK ITSS, and you’ll play a pivotal role in enhancing our reputation and engaging key stakeholders, including funders, technical professionals, senior leaders and policy makers.
About The Team
You will join a small communications and marketing function which sits within a broader team of 27 made up of operational support staff, Our Learning and Development team, T Levels University Support Manager, Research and Policy Team.
About You
We’re looking for a passionate, personable communicator who has a strong attention to detail. Your skills will help us engage with a 35,000-strong technical community across universities and research institutes. You’ll help to promote our pioneering leadership and development programmes, including Knowledge Exchange Placements and other key initiatives that elevate technicians’ visibility and careers. Ideally you will have 2 years' experience in a similar role.

Other details: There are two full-time roles available at The UK Institute for Technical Skills & Strategy (UK ITSS). These are fixed term until July 2026. This role is based at Jubilee Campus, University of Nottingham with hybrid working. Interviews will take place WC 20th October on Jubilee Campus, University of Nottingham.
