The Well-Being & Partnership Service is looking for a Finance and Contracts Monitoring Officer to be part of a small but busy team in Staffordshire’s Children's Placement Service.
This is an excellent and exciting opportunity which provides variety and uses a wide range of skills. You will be expected to work with regional partners, involving commissioning work and providing support to the Market Relationship Manager in relation to supported accommodation, fostering, and residential care.
The role is for 18.5 hours per week (Wednesday to Friday) based at Staffordshire Place 1, Tipping Street, Stafford. Remote/hybrid working is also supported for this role.
Main Responsibilities
1. Assist with coordinating all aspects of families & communities placements to independent providers, supporting the commissioning of placements based on “best value” principles to meet the needs of children.
2. Assist the Market Relationship Manager in monitoring financial spend and supporting efforts to achieve best value.
3. Help create and maintain a central record of contract prices for each provider.
4. Ensure compliance with financial regulations, standing orders, finance and contracting procedures, and other guidance.
5. Provide accurate and up-to-date information about the independent providers' budget, maintaining a spreadsheet to monitor expenditure and future commitments.
6. Support social workers in resolving contractual conflicts or issues related to the quality of care during placements.
7. Undertake commissioning work and support the Market Relationship Manager.
8. Contribute to decisions regarding shared funding with key partners in health and education.
The Ideal Candidate
* Have extensive finance and contractual experience, preferably in a social care setting.
* Be able to interpret contractual information and work within commissioned arrangements.
* Possess good attention to detail and excellent numerical skills, including financial data analysis.
* Be able to work under pressure within tight deadlines.
* Handle queries and manage conflicts professionally.
* Have a passion for helping achieve positive outcomes for children and families across Staffordshire.
