They operate across a range of sectors nationwide, includingCommercial & LeisureHealthEducationHeritageStudent LivingDue to a busy work stream they are looking for an Estimator to join their team in Merseyside.Their projects range from £100k to £6mil.Job PurposeTo prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction, refurbishment, and maintenance projects, ensuring tenders are commercially viable and aligned with company objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesReview drawings, specifications and tender documents to understand project requirementsCarry out quantity take-offs and prepare detailed cost estimatesObtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractorsPrepare and submit tender documents within deadlinesIdentify project risks and include appropriate contingenciesLiaise with project managers, clients and commercial teamsAssist in value engineering to optimise cost without compromising qualityMaintain and update cost databases and historical recordsSupport handover of successful bids to the delivery teamRole-Specific DutiesDevelop cost plans from early design through to final tenderInterpret architectural and engineering drawingsConduct site visits to assess existing conditionsAccount for unknowns and potential variationsPrice works using schedules of ratesHandle reactive and planned maintenance estimates efficientlyKey Skills & CompetenciesStrong numerical and analytical skillsGood understanding of construction methods and materialsAbility to read and interpret technical drawingsHigh attention to detail and accuracyCommercial awareness and negotiation skillsProficient in estimating software and Microsoft ExcelStrong communication and teamwork abilitiesAbility to manage multiple tenders under tight deadlinesEssential:Experience in construction estimating (refurb or maintenance)Knowledge of UK construction practices and contractsDesirable:Degree or HNC/HND in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or similarExperience with estimating software (e.g. CostX, ConQuest or similar)TPBN1_UKTJ
