Working alongside teams within IDS and delivery partners, a Project Technician is required to support the delivery of Lead Replacement programme and work streams such as: mains renewal, new mains, infrastructure maintenance and growth projects amongst others.
The role requires the successful candidate to drive the timely and safe delivery of activities. The Project Technician will provide in-field advice, support on Lead activities, and work in collaboration with contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
The postholder will monitor the quality of workmanship, compliance with Water Regulations, and enforce high standards in the delivery of new water assets. The Project Technician will coordinate planning or interruption to supply processes with the Water Networks team to prevent issues once the scheme is planned.
Key responsibilities include ensuring all work is carried out safely, in accordance with risk assessments and method statements, and maintaining a visible presence across construction sites. Site meetings with contractors, Project Managers, and customer engagement are expected, requiring excellent organisational and communication skills.
Support on health and safety related to construction activities and ensure contractor compliance with standards is also required.
The role involves regular customer engagement, so excellent interpersonal skills are necessary while adhering to company values and promoting the Lead Programme benefits to customers.
About you
You should have proven water network experience, following best practices in all construction works impacting the network. Water Regulation experience and knowledge of Northumbrian Water network design standards and service connection procedures are advantageous. Customer service skills are essential for building relationships with customers, developers, colleagues, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
You will report progress and project risks to the Project Manager, and be flexible to accommodate customer and developer requests while delivering within regulatory timescales. A proactive, problem-solving attitude is essential.
Full training will be provided to the right candidate. An understanding of DMEX and CMEX would be desirable.
