Overview
Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) role at NHS Scotland, based at Lorn & Islands Hospital Laboratory. Permanent full-time position, 37 hours per week. Salary £28,011 - £30,230.
Responsibilities
* Phlebotomy – collection of bloods from patients on the wards.
* Sample reception – sorting and preparation of samples for processing.
* Enter the requests into the computer, perform basic laboratory tasks and monitor laboratory stocks.
* Work as part of a small, friendly team processing approximately 200 requests per day.
* Some weekend work on an equal shared rota.
Qualifications and requirements
* Candidates should be enthusiastic, outgoing, motivated and innovative, with good organisational skills and well-developed communication skills.
* All training will be provided in post; experience with keyboard skills is essential.
