Job Overview
This post is a secondment for 6 months until 1 September 2026 to meet the needs of the service. The Head of Nursing will work within the Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Division, leading clinical excellence, innovation and service transformation during the launch of a new Mental Health Strategy and delivery plan.
Responsibilities
* Support the Divisional Nurse to deliver safe, effective, high‑quality nursing care across the division.
* Work closely with nursing teams, service leads and multidisciplinary colleagues to up‑skill clinical practice, improve patient experience and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
* Help implement strategic priorities, drive quality improvement initiatives and support workforce planning and development.
* Act as a professional role model, provide guidance, support and clinical leadership to nursing teams while championing best practice and innovation in care delivery.
* Contribute to service redesign, policy development and performance monitoring, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organisational objectives.
Qualifications
Education / Qualifications – Essential criteria
* Registered nurse with active/live registration with the NMC.
* Educated to Masters level in nursing or a health care related subject, or have experience equivalent to this level.
* Comprehensive continual professional development portfolio.
Education / Qualifications – Desirable criteria
* Leadership/management development programme or certificate.
Knowledge and Experience – Essential criteria
* Experience in senior nurse management.
Knowledge and Experience – Desirable criteria
* Sufficient experience in relevant areas.
