This role is accountable for delivering end-to-end Employee Relations (ER) case management, providing robust, pragmatic, and legally compliant ER advice to Balfour Beatty Vinci line managers and HR stakeholders. The position plays a key role in managing business risk through the application of current UK employment legislation and best practice, ensuring that ER issues are handled effectively and consistently. Working closely with HR Business Partners and parent company ER teams, the role offers practical solutions to ER matters while contributing to the continuous improvement of ER processes across the organisation. The position also supports the development of people managers through proactive coaching and guidance, helping them build capability in managing ER issues. The role may include line management responsibility for an ER Advisor, promoting a high standard of ER delivery. Additionally, it involves identifying emerging trends within the organisation and collaborating with HR colleagues to drive improvements that align with BBV’s business objectives.
* Brings significant experience in end-to-end Employee Relations case management, with a strong and thorough understanding of UK employment law.
* Demonstrates excellent communication and influencing skills, using a range of methods to support managers and achieve business objectives.
* Highly self-motivated and capable of working independently or as part of a team, applying initiative and sound judgement when managing sensitive or complex issues.
* Well‑organised and able to manage competing priorities, delivering high-quality work to tight deadlines with strong attention to detail. Skilled in making timely, well‑informed decisions that balance risk, business goals and legal considerations, while maintaining confidentiality and integrity at all times.
* Additional experience includes providing a consultancy-style ER service to leaders, supporting multi-site or complex organisational environments, and handling employment tribunal and ACAS Early Conciliation cases.
* Demonstrates a strong understanding of how effective ER and IR practices contribute to wider business success. Known for creating momentum, making balanced decisions, inspiring others, delivering results, empowering colleagues and showing empathy in challenging situations.
* CIPD qualified or actively working towards the qualification.
