A quick look at the role.
The role of the Engineering Manager will be to inspire, coach and develop your onsite engineering team to create a safe and high performing team who maximise uptime on your site. You will be adept at managing stakeholder relationships and able to communicate effectively when the pressure is on.
You will support the work of others through developing their skills & implementing best practice. Your work will support the continuous improvement of a safe and high performing culture within your engineering teams.
The engineering manager is accountable to the regional engineering manager. You will be pivotal to the success of this site and be expected to quickly become an integral part of the site leadership team.
This is a high-profile role at one of the largest materials recovery facilities in the UK. The site runs 24/7 with the exception of Christmas Day.
Your core responsibilities.
1. Lead, coach and develop a multi-disciplinary engineering team, fostering accountability and high performance
2. Create, embed and maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring full compliance with all engineering and H&S standards
3. Drive asset reliability through effective preventative maintenance, maintaining PM compliance consistently above 95%
4. Reduce breakdowns and reactive maintenance, improving overall plant availability and site performance
5. Manage contractors effectively, ensuring safe systems of work and quality delivery
6. Carry out Root Cause Analysis and implement sustainable, long-term engineering solutions
7. Plan, execute and continuously improve shutdown activities to minimise downtime and risk
8. Take ownership of engineering OPEX, contribute to CAPEX planning, embed engineering standards, and ensure best practice is consistently applied
Requirements
Here’s what we require.
9. Previous engineering/maintenance management experience.
10. Experience of managing health and safety within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
11. An engineering / asset management qualification
12. Excellent communication and presentation skills
13. Budget / P&L management skills
14. Comfortable with the use of all Microsoft applications and ability to use or learn to use others (Trello / Slack)
15. Highly skilled manager with a coaching and developmental style. You will be confident in effectively managing the performance of others.
