About the role

At BlueTech, we work closely with our clients as partners, helping them navigate complexity, identify opportunity, and make better decisions in a rapidly evolving water landscape. This role is about understanding that journey and contributing to it in a meaningful way.


We’re looking for a Key Account Manager who sees commercial growth as the outcome of strong client relationships and shared value creation.


You will work at the intersection of insight and application, building relationships with clients over time, identifying where we can add value, and translating that into tangible commercial outcomes. You’ll be engaging with senior stakeholders across utilities, corporates, and investors, translating complex water innovation into clear commercial value.


This role requires someone who is both relationship-led and commercially driven. Someone who can build trust quickly, think long-term, and at the same time take ownership of pipeline, targets, and results.



What you’ll do


1. Drive new business growth

* Identify, target, and qualify new prospects across key segments
* Lead outbound prospecting through campaigns, industry events, and personal network
* Conduct exploratory calls and product demonstrations with senior decision-makers
* Build and communicate compelling value propositions tailored to client needs
* Convert qualified opportunities into new client relationships


2. Manage and grow key accounts

* Own and develop relationships with existing clients
* Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities across BlueTech services
* Act as a trusted partner, understanding client priorities and aligning solutions accordingly
* Ensure strong client engagement and long-term retention


3. Own the sales process and pipeline

* Manage the full sales cycle from lead to close with discipline and consistency
* Maintain accurate pipeline tracking, reporting, and forecasting in HubSpot
* Execute structured follow-up and nurturing to move opportunities forward
* Collaborate with marketing and research teams to refine messaging and campaigns
* Contribute to continuous improvement of sales processes and materials



The ideal candidate

Fluency in the language of the water technology sector is essential. This goes beyond familiarity. It’s about being able to engage credibly and confidently with senior stakeholders across utilities, corporates, and investors. You understand how the industry thinks, how decisions are made, and where innovation fits into commercial reality.


Ideally, you already have a network within the water space and know how to activate it. You’re comfortable building new relationships, but equally focused on developing them over time, turning initial conversations into something more meaningful and long-term.


What sets you apart is your approach to clients. You see relationships as partnerships, not transactions. You’re naturally curious, you listen well, and you look for ways to create shared value. At the same time, you are motivated by growth, comfortable owning targets, and confident moving opportunities forward.


You know how to build rapport, but also how to guide conversations towards outcomes. You ask the right questions, challenge when needed, and bring structure without making the process feel rigid or forced.


Just as importantly, you value internal collaboration. BlueTech Research is a fully remote team, and strong communication and internal rapport are essential. You work well with others, share context proactively, and contribute to a consistent, unified voice externally. You’re a team player who understands that commercial success at BlueTech is built collectively, not in silos.


Finally, you are highly organised and disciplined in how you work. You manage your pipeline with intent, follow up consistently, and ensure that opportunities don’t drift. You understand that strong relationships and strong commercial performance go hand in hand, and you operate comfortably at that intersection.



Must-haves (non-negotiables)

* 3–5 years of experience in a sales or account management role
* Direct experience in the water technology sector
* Proven ability to manage a full sales cycle
* EXTREMELY adept lead follow-up and organisation skills
* Experience working with a CRM system (HubSpot strongly preferred)


Bonus points

* Experience selling subscription, SaaS, or insight-based services
* Track record in building and executing outbound sales campaigns
* Experience engaging with utilities, industrial players, or investors
* Exposure to marketing automation or lead nurturing workflows
* Experience working in a lean, fast-paced, or scale-up environment
