Young Tower Hamlets is seeking a Senior Youth Worker to serve as part of the council's comprehensive sports offer for the borough's young people. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supervising a team of Youth Sports Coaches and working with a diverse range of young people across various settings in the borough, including community sports clubs, schools, and youth centres. The Senior Youth Worker will be responsible for delivering a high-quality sports coaching offer to young people with varying abilities, skills, and needs.
The Senior Youth Worker will be responsible for developing and delivering an engaging sports-based youth work curriculum to ensure that more young people in Tower Hamlets benefit from participating in sports and physical activity as part of their development and outcomes. It is imperative that the successful candidate possesses relevant sports coach-related qualification(s) and has recent experience working with young people and stakeholders in delivering a diverse range of sports-based activities.
Sports, including hockey, basketball, athletics, girls' football, athletics, and crickets, are highlighted as a priority area for the Council. The Senior Youth Worker will be responsible for leading the staff in delivering sports activities and will report to the Group Manager for Sports and Physical Activities within the Young Tower Hamlets division. The working hours for this role will be daytime, evenings, and weekends in accordance with operational needs, and the ability to fulfil this requirement is necessary. This is an in-person role involving direct line management of a team and the development of partnerships with local stakeholders.
