Housing Support Worker
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: £24,770.20
Contract: permanent

CARE (Christian Action Resource Enterprise) is a local charity supporting people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or facing difficult circumstances. We are looking for a Housing Support Worker to provide practical and emotional tenancy support, helping people build the skills and confidence to live independently.
Role Summary
You will work directly with tenants, supporting them to settle into their homes, maintain their tenancy, and improve their wellbeing. This includes practical housing-related tasks, developing life skills, and signposting to other services — all delivered in a person-centred, non-judgemental way.
Key Responsibilities
Housing Management
* Support clients to move into and settle into new accommodation.
* Complete needs assessments and create support plans, reviewing them regularly.
* Liaise with landlords and mediate between landlords and tenants to sustain tenancies.
* Carry out regular property inspections and health and safety checks.
* Arrange and follow up on repairs, escalating issues to the Housing Manager where needed.
Housing Support
* Provide 1:1 floating support in clients' homes and the community.
* Help clients manage responsibilities, budgets, and bills.
* Support attendance at appointments and engagement with services.
* Encourage participation in community activities to reduce isolation.
* Liaise with other professionals to provide joined-up support.
General
* Maintain accurate records and use internal systems for support notes and tenancy documentation.
* Work to CARE's quality standards, policies, and safeguarding procedures.
* Represent CARE positively to clients, partners, and other agencies.
* Attend meetings, supervision, and required training.
Person Specification
* Compassionate, empathetic, and able to build trust with clients from diverse backgrounds.
* Strong organisational skills and able to manage your own diary.
* Good communicator with the ability to work with individuals and in partnership with other agencies.
* Experience of housing support, tenancy sustainment, or related work.
* Full driving licence and access to transport.
* Confident using IT to manage records and communication.
