To provide operational support and development of clinical and non clinical systems used across the Trust
Provide technical advice, guidance and support relating to the design, specification, procurement and implementation improvements to the databases, applications, systems and client software.
Deliver innovation by using scripting and web programming technologies to enhance and automate operations and services provided by the IT Department. Integration of other support and operational systems with Active Directory and other future directory services, single sign-on products.
Perform second and third level investigation to facilitate problem identification and resolution across the IT Department in relation to clinical and non-clinical systems.
To participate in the IT On Call rota providing out of hours support coverage of key Trust Infrastructure and applications.
Main duties of the job
Working with Philips and the Radiology department to implement and replace the existing PACs system.
Working with suppliers to diagnose faults and fix issues with major clinical systems like RIS and EPMA and future upgrades to systems.
Have experience of working with PACs system and understanding the workflows and integrations of the current PACs system
Support and install new SQL Server Always on Environments for new and upgraded systems

Job responsibilities
To ensure that for the key Trust computer systems including Philips PACs, Philips, RIS and EPMA the post holder has responsibility:
o That appropriate server hardware, operating system and storage are correctly configured and adequately secured and backed up, including where appropriate with the necessary integration agents for the relevant databases
o To proactively recommend any necessary upgrades or enhancements to server or client platforms to maximise the productivity of these systems, and to participate in any projects arising
o To develop supporting documentation, policies and procedures for the management of these systems
o Where appropriate work with system administrators to automate commonly executed management tasks
o To liaise with the departmental system administrators, system suppliers, and any other associated third parties, to ensure that the systems remain available to end users as required by the applications, to fully support the delivery of patient care, including where appropriate remote supplier support facilities
o That provisions have been made for disaster recovery and business continuity planning for the systems and server infrastructure, including arrangements with departmental systems administrators and third party organisations where appropriate
o Manage and develop supported databases, with particular emphasis on performance and capacity, in association with supplier technical support
Work with departmental systems administrators, project staff, local and national service providers, and other third party organisations over the integration of these systems into the National Programme, or the replacement of these systems by LSP/NASP equivalents or other central initiatives such as Electronic Staff Record
Represent the Trust on local, regional and national forums where appropriate for the support and development of these systems
Maintain an up to date knowledge of the relevant server hardware and operating systems, storage architectures and solutions and client configurations appropriate to these applications
Maintain and develop the relevant skills for support of these applications
Person Specification
Education
* has ITIL Foundation Certificate
* Certification from Microsoft, MS SQL, IRIS, Oracle or similar
Experience
* 3 years systems support
* Substantial second/third level support in a 24 x 7 real-time environment across multiple sites and organisations
* Management of servers and associated storage infrastructure in a highly complex 24 x 7 real time environment
* Management of client architectures and user access
* Management of relationships with third party network service providers
* Working knowledge of Philips PACs and RIS system, shutdown processes
* 5 + years' experience of systems support
* Exposure to ITIL concepts and practices
* Experience of SCCM
