About Who Needs Support
I am a young man in my 20s. I live with my disabled twin brother and mother in our own home. I have Autism and associated sensory disorder as well as Asthma that I need support with. I find communicating and social situations difficult, and I need support to navigate these situations. I have a routine that I follow to keep me well and safe.
I have a pet snake that I need prompting with to support, there is also cat and dog in the home. I have a safespaces at home, and I enjoy spending time in this space to manage my thoughts and process my feelings. I enjoy board games, playing these with my family inside as well as keeping fit by swimming and riding my bike.
I will need support to maintain my home by completing domestic chores, supporting me with maintaining my personal appearance and hygiene i.e. I am not able to wash or dry my hair (I have very long hair). I need support around my toilet needs as well as choosing appropriate clothing to wear according to the weather. I would need support in shopping and preparing healthy nutritious meal. I need to keep active with projects and I need a lot of encouragement and support to attend social activities.
I am not aware of the dangers in my environment and would need support to recognsies them and keep safe. I enjoy crafts and art, drawing and hamabeads, D&D and anime and learning to sow.
Skills you need for the role
Brand new commission, for all day care various roles available and willing to take a mixture of full and part time, including evening and weekends.
I will need you to be compassionate and reliable. You need to be organized and punctual when supporting me. You need to be aware of any dangers to me at home or in the community and support me to avoid them, whilst thinking on your feet and using common sense in certain situations. You will need to be able to support my healthy eating habits, as well as keep my house clean with domestic chores and cooking that I am not able to do.
You need to be able to work in a team as well as work independently including helping identify unique goals and planning projects for me to do. You need to be sociable and support me in the community or when people are visiting my home, keeping me safe and be reassuring to keep me calm using sensory diet and positive behaviour techniques in my plan. You need to follow supported decision making and my communication plan to help me express my views and be independent.
You need to be trustworthy and build a relationship with my family to ensure my relationship with them continues. You need to be able to deal with my twin brothers needs as and when arise for joint care, please see brothers advert for further details.
Experience in Autsim is not essential but would benefit supporting me, although full training will be provided.
Full time (40 hours) roles available for Car drivers with a full, clean driving license are essential, and candidates must meet the requirements for motor insurance purposes.
