Rossie is a multidisciplinary organisation which aims to help vulnerable children and young people prepare for independent living. Hours: Full Time - 37 hours per week over 4 days. Hours of work will be 0815 - 1830 with a daily 1 hour unpaid break. Days off will vary over a 4 week rota.
Salary: £31,230 - £33,289 (SCP 22 - SCP 25)
Fixed term contract for a 6 month period
The post holder will report directly to the Nurse Practitioner and under their guidance and direction will undertake identified tasks with our young people within the secure and residential settings. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will actively participate with SIHW practitioners and health, care and education colleagues to ensure the physical, emotional and mental health needs of our young people are met. In addition, you will work in partnership with a range of external health professionals including GP’s, dentists, CAMHS and NHS Tayside to support the health needs of our young people, and assist the Nurse Practitioner with administration tasks related to the young people.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Assessment of minor ailments and emergency first aid:
* Respond to requests within remit
* Liaise with care workers and Duty Managers
* Adhere to health pathways
* Report and record any concerns in young people’s physical or mental wellbeing
* Recognise risk in relation to care provision
Ordering process of monthly medications:
* Prep of MARR sheets
* Add new medications to MARR sheets
* Stock checks and ordering processes
* Home remedy supplies
* Ordering of first aid supplies and re-stocking of first aid kits, spillage kits
Assist at internal clinics as required:
* Arrange and support GP, Dental and Optician clinics
* Recording of clinic outcomes
* Daily & weekly checks of medical room
Undertake a range of administrative tasks and maintain electronic health files of young people:
* Assist the Nurse Practitioner with administration tasks related to the admission, transfer and discharge of young people
* Ability to plan and prioritise own work tasks and activities
* Update Health and Wellbeing records accordingly
* Comply with all relevant national and Rossie policies, procedures and guidelines relating to Secure Care Standards, Health and Safety, Confidentiality of Information, Moving and handling, Infection Control, Data Protection etc.
Provide advice and guidance on health promotion, health management and prevention strategies to young people and workers:
* Participate in routine screening process for all young people e.g. height and weight, and record and feedback outcomes
* Respects the individuality, values, cultural and religious diversity of young people and staff, and contribute to the provision of a service sensitive to these needs
* Undertake duties, which fall within role and remit in discussion with the Nurse Practitioner
