This role will be within BGEN - one of the UK’s largest multidisciplinary design and build contractors with over 100 years of industry experience. We support clients in the water, power & energy, pharmaceutical, nuclear and food and beverage industries to deliver next generation, value-added engineering solutions.
What will you be doing?
In this role, you’ll play a key part in the Financial Control team, helping to ensure the accuracy, integrity and reliability of the company’s financial reporting. Based in Warrington and reporting to the Head of Financial Control, you’ll take ownership of the month-end close process from end to end, delivering high-quality, timely financial outputs that support decision-making across the business.
You’ll prepare and review monthly management accounts, lead balance sheet reviews, and ensure strong financial controls are embedded and consistently applied. Working closely with FP&A, Finance Business Partners and operational teams, you’ll provide clear insight through robust analysis and commentary, while maintaining compliance with group policies and statutory requirements.
You’ll also support audits and statutory reporting, contribute to VAT and regulatory submissions, and help drive continuous improvement across finance processes and systems. Alongside this, you’ll coach and support colleagues, share technical expertise, and build strong relationships across finance and the wider business. This is a collaborative role offering real scope to develop within a growing finance function.
What will you bring?
Essential
* Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
* Proven experience in a Financial Control or Management Accounting role with ownership of month‑end close.
* Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of balance sheet controls.
* Excellent attention to detail with a well‑structured and methodical approach.
* Ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
* Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large data sets.
* Clear communicator, able to explain financial matters succinctly.
Desirable
* Experience in an engineering, infrastructure, construction or project based environment.
* Experience using Oracle ERP or similar large finance systems.
* Prior involvement in statutory accounts preparation and audit processes.
* Experience contributing to process improvement or finance transformation initiatives.
