Are you an experienced Project Engineer with a flair for mechanical design and a track record of delivering successful engineering projects? About the Role:
Reporting to the Head of Projects, you’ll be responsible for the full engineering life cycle of bespoke machinery and materials handling projects. You’ll be hands-on from the very first sketch through to final commissioning, ensuring designs are efficient, compliant, and delivered on time.
Responsibilities:
* Designing and detailing bespoke conveyor systems, structures, and sheet metal fabrications using SolidWorks & AutoCAD
* Integrating third-party equipment (shredders, magnets, optical sorters) into complete plant layouts
* Producing GA drawings, manufacturing drawings, and BOMs for production
* Managing costs, materials, and project schedules
* Visiting customer sites in the UK and abroad for surveys, installation, and commissioning
* Collaborating closely with sales, manufacturing, and project teams to deliver high-quality solutions
* Continuously improving designs, processes, and cost-effectiveness
Experience Required:
* HNC (or higher) in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering
* Experience with conveyor or special purpose machinery design
* Proficiency in SolidWorks & AutoCAD (2D & 3D)
* Strong knowledge of sheet metal, structural steel, and fabrication design
* Understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic electrical principles
* Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset
* Experience with ERP/MRP systems
* Confident communication with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
