Category Manager Required
Contract Length: 6 months+
Location: West Midlands
Rate of Pay: Negotiable
Venn Group are looking for a Category Manager to work for a Local Authority in the West Midlands.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
1. Deliver procurement operations and activity (tenders, mini-competitions via frameworks).
2. Support delivery of savings and efficiencies and maintain the Council’s Contract Register.
3. Advise on procurement strategies, frameworks, and contract documentation.
4. Ensure compliance with national procurement regulations, Council policies, and governance.
5. Support and monitor contract management, social value delivery, and transparency.
6. Provide training and guidance to colleagues, ensuring continuous improvement.
7. Engage with SMEs and local suppliers to maximise community value
The successful candidate will have:
8. Proven experience in procurement operations within the public sector or large organisations.
9. Strong knowledge of procurement legislation, frameworks, and best practice.
10. Ability to advise on procurement strategy and deliver innovative procurement solutions.
11. Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
