Make a Differenceat the Front Door of Care

Were looking for afriendly, organised and proactive Reception / Care Coordinator to join our busy GP practice in Deptford / New Cross.

Youll be the firstpoint of contact for our patients, playing a key role in ensuring they receivethe right care, at the right time, while supporting the smooth day-to-dayrunning of the practice.

No GP experience?Thats okay full training will be provided.

* NHS/GP experience desirable but not essential


Salary & Benefits

£14.00 per hour (rising to £14.80 after probation)

Full-time (37.5 hours, Monday‑Friday)

2025 days annual leave + bank holidays

Main duties of the job

* Welcome and assist patients in person and over the phone
* Manage enquiries efficiently and professionally
* Support administrative tasks including DOCMAN and QOF
* Contribute to care coordination and practice targets
* Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Job Responsibilities

* Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
* Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone. Be flexible at all times to assist colleagues and business needs.
* Administration – have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures; work in accordance with written protocols; opening and distributing post; change backup tape when colleagues on annual leave/sickness; pulling/filing notes; scanning/filing patient documents into Docman; photocopy as requested.
* Reception – cover all reception positions; cover colleagues on annual leave/sickness; receiving patients, consulting with members of practice team; handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address.
* Appointments – process appointment requests for today/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person following a strict triage system; deal with visits/requests according to practice protocol.
* Computer – registrations of new patients, data entry and medical records; process patients' changes of address; process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines.
* Telephone – have working knowledge of telephone system during and after hours.
* Other Tasks – provision of refreshments for staff and visitors; loading and emptying the dishwasher; keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy; keeping the reception area notice‑boards and leaflet dispensers tidy; clear rooms after surgeries; ensure building security knowledge of doors/windows/alarm; having target‑driven areas to help achieve max results for example QOF; any other tasks allocated by managers or partners.


Person Specification


Experience

* Must be able to multitask; experience of working in a high‑paced environment.
* Typing speed of 40 WPM.
* Experience using EMIS, DOCMAN10, working in general practice; dealing with clients on the phone; triage knowledge; working in the NHS.
* Experience of social media / content handling such as TikTok and YouTube.

£14 an hour and rising to £14.80 after successful probation period
