Speech and Language Therapist
Position: Speech and Language Therapist at Red Kite School, Princes Risborough.
Location: Red Kite School – Buckinghamshire HP27 0JW.
Contract: Permanent. Hours: 18.75 hours per week, 8.30am-4.30pm.
Salary: Up to £53,200 (FTE) DOE.
About the role
Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working and be responsible for holding a Speech and Language Therapy caseload, with the full support of a designated clinical supervisor and site lead. You will also contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
Qualifications and Experience
* Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
* HCPC registration and registration with RCSLT.
* Relevant experience working with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles.
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice.
* Experience of multidisciplinary working in a range of settings.
* Experience of communicating with/working with families, relatives and carers.
* Interest in developing knowledge and skills in different areas of SaLT practice.
* Good relationship‑building, analytical and judgmental skills.
* Good communication skills (oral and written).
* Good time‑management and organisational skills.
* Competence in core areas of SaLT practice and clear understanding of RCSLT communication standards.
* Knowledge of different SaLT assessment tools and interventions and how to formulate support plans based on needs profile.
* Knowledge of legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Willingness to attend training and work towards further qualifications relevant to the client group.
* Understanding of other differences (e.g. sensory and motor) that may impact communication strengths, traits, difficulties and needs profile.
* Understanding of the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
* Full driving licence and access to a car (highly desirable).
