Job Description Operation Manager An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Operations Manager to join a high-performing energy recovery facility in the Birmingham area. This role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the plant, overseeing teams involved in production, logistics, and maintenance. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you’ll lead day-to-day operations, ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards, and drive performance improvement across the site. In the absence of the Plant and Maintenance Managers, you’ll take full responsibility for all plant operations. Key Responsibilities of the Operations Manager include: Lead and develop the operations team, promoting a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement mindset. Oversee daily plant performance, ensuring targets for efficiency, output, and cost are achieved. Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, environmental permits, and company standards. Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to enhance plant reliability and availability. Manage budgets, reporting, and operational KPIs, driving consistent performance improvement. What you'll need: Proven leadership in a process-driven environment (power, waste, or heavy industry). Strong understanding of high-pressure systems, boilers, or energy conversion processes. Experience managing operational KPIs, budgets, and compliance standards. Recognised engineering qualification (mechanical, electrical, or process) with NEBOSH/IOSH certification preferred. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team development skills. What’s on Offer Competitive salary of £55,000-£62,000 depending on experience.
