Job Description

As Corporate Security Senior Advisor, you’ll work in a small team responsible for providing assurance that security risks are addressed and our security culture is improved. You will be a role model for security, promoting a positive culture and cultivating good behaviors. Your role involves protecting the organization from security threats that could impact our people, data, information, or physical assets.
In this role, you will:
* Help the Corporate Security Manager oversee and mitigate security risks
* Provide leadership and guidance on assessing and managing security risks, including security responsibilities
* Collaborate with risk owners across the organization to understand, assess, and mitigate risks
* Provide assurance to the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) for security, EA Board, and Executive Directors
* Partner with Defra group Security to ensure security strategies, policies, and processes are in place
* Lead initiatives to enhance security culture through training, communication, and engagement
* Manage governance meetings to oversee security decisions
* Maintain networks with security professionals to stay updated on the latest developments
The wider team manages diverse activities. You will be involved in various team projects, gaining broad experience.

The team
You will be part of a small, welcoming team within the Corporate Management, Assurance, and Security team, focused on organizational resilience and effectiveness. You will have access to professional security advice from Defra group Security and collaborate with subject matter experts in the Environment Agency.
Experience/Skills Required
The external security landscape is complex and evolving. While you do not need to be a security professional, you should have:
* An understanding of broader influences on organizational security to facilitate continuous improvement
* Proven leadership skills to achieve outcomes, foster partnerships, influence, and inspire
* Ability to build effective partnerships within Defra and the Environment Agency to jointly manage risks
* Experience working with senior stakeholders, managing multiple priorities and demands
* Experience in culture change, stakeholder management, communication, engagement, and implementing business change (beneficial but not essential)

This is a hybrid role; you will be based at your nearest office in England, with the option to work from home. Some national travel may be required.
