Overview
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn NHSFT invites applications for the position of Junior Sister/Charge Nurse in the Emergency Department within the newly developed division of Urgent and Emergency Care. The closing date is 06 October 2025.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Emergency Department to work with all members of the department clinical teams and the wider multidisciplinary team, maintaining a high standard of patient care while working alongside the senior sister/registered practitioner in charge. You will accept delegated responsibility for the provision of professional and managerial leadership for patients in the Emergency Department.
You will work in accordance with the principles governed by the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) / Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Trust Policies. You will participate in developing action plans, protocols and pathways to ensure continuous quality improvement for the service, contributing to the strategic development of patient and health care services. You will deputise for the senior sister/registered practitioner in charge as appropriate, while the senior nurse/senior registered practitioner in charge remains in the department. You will encourage staff to embrace a culture of change and to sustain high standards of patient care and clinical practice.
Main duties of the job
As the successful applicant, you will support the Senior Sisters and Charge Nurses in Charge in delivering safe patient care and maintaining high quality standards within these areas. You will also be involved in ensuring that the department meets its Key Performance Indicators, while ensuring that care is delivered in a compassionate manner within the Emergency Department.
We are looking for someone who is positive, progressive and forward thinking. Therefore, you will be enthusiastic, flexible and committed to delivering high quality care for our patients. Management and team leadership skills are desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

* Evidence of Post-registration Educational Continuing development
