Location: Port of Tilbury
Salary: £13.88 per hour (Overtime paid at £20.82 per hour)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:00 – 17:00

Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Rigger to join our client's operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, securing, and moving heavy paper reels and timber products both on and off vessels, ensuring all cargo is handled safely and efficiently in line with port and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the safe loading and unloading of cargo including paper reels and timber products
Rig lifting equipment such as chains, slings, and spreader bars in preparation for crane operations
Guide crane operators and signal lifting operations using hand signals or radio communication
Inspect rigging equipment before and after use, reporting any defects
Work closely with crane drivers, stevedores, and yard teams to ensure smooth and timely cargo movements
Adhere to all health and safety protocols and site-specific requirements within the port
Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the rigging area
Carry out additional general duties as required within the scope of port operations
Requirements:
Previous experience as a Rigger or in a similar role within ports, logistics, or shipping
Understanding of lifting operations and rigging equipment
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
A strong commitment to safety and operational best practices
Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Valid port or dock passes preferred but not essential (training can be arranged)
Flexibility to support operational demands
Pay & Benefits:
£13.88 per hour basic rate
Overtime paid at £20.92 per hour
