Team Lead - AI Platform Lead – Python / AI / Financial Modelling
£650 - £800 per day, Outside IR35
6 Month Contract Remote
Overview
I’m currently working with a leading financial services technology consultancy that is looking to bring in an experienced AI Platform Lead to support the delivery of modern software solutions for a major pensions client.
This role sits at the intersection of financial modelling, cloud engineering, and AI-driven development, supporting the evolution of platforms used for forward-looking financial analysis, including discounted cashflow projections and Monte Carlo simulations.
This is a hands-on leadership role, combining deep Python engineering expertise with ownership of AI-assisted and agentic development practices. You’ll play a key role in shaping how modern AI tooling is embedded into engineering workflows across the platform.
Role & Responsibilities
* Leading the adoption and evolution of AI-assisted and agentic engineering workflows across the development lifecycle
* Remaining hands-on with Python-led development within a modern Azure-based cloud environment
* Contributing to platforms supporting financial modelling and forward-looking analytics, including discounted cashflow projections and Monte Carlo simulations
* Evaluating and implementing AI development tooling (e.g. Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, OpenCode, Conductor) to improve engineering productivity and quality
* Acting as a technical lead and SME within the team, setting standards and guiding best practice
* Working within an Agile delivery environment, contributing to stand-ups, sprint planning and retrospectives
* Collaborating closely with engineers, stakeholders, and clients to deliver high-quality solutions
* Supporting day-to-day delivery and proactively helping to resolve blockers
* Contribute to solution design and architectural decisions
Skills and Experience
* 10 years Python development experience, with a strong track record in building scalable systems
* Strong experience working within Azure-based cloud environments
* Proven experience developing with or implementing AI agentic tooling, such as Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, OpenCode, Conductor or similar
* Experience working within Financial Services, ideally with exposure to financial modelling systems
* Strong understanding of forward-looking modelling approaches, such as discounted cashflow projections or Monte Carlo simulations
* Experience operating in a senior or lead engineering capacity within modern Agile teams
* Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
