Main duties of the job

* Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
* Answer telephone calls, manage queries, and direct calls appropriately
* Book, amend, and cancel appointments using our clinical system (EMIS WEB)
* Process patient registrations and update records accurately
* Handle prescription requests and liaise with clinicians
* Scan, file, and manage incoming correspondence
* Maintain confidentiality and adhere to GDPR regulations
* Support clinicians with administrative tasks including medical reports and referrals
* Monitor stock levels and assist with general office duties

The GP practice is based off the main rd with lots of onsite parking and great transport links, such as bus or metrolink.


Job responsibilities

We are looking for a friendly, organised, and proactive Medical Receptionist/Administrator to join our busy GP practice. In this vital front-line role, youll be the first point of contact for patientsgreeting them warmly, managing appointments, handling phone calls, and supporting the clinical team with a range of administrative duties. Youll maintain accurate patient records, process prescriptions and referrals, and ensure all correspondence is handled efficiently and confidentially. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong IT proficiency, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience in a healthcare setting and familiarity with clinical systems like EMIS or SystmOne would be an advantage, though not essential. Person Specification


Qualifications

* GSCE's in English and Maths or equivalent


Experience

* Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role (preferably in healthcare)
* Excellent communication and customer service skills
* Strong IT skills and familiarity with clinical systems (EMIS/SystmOne desirable)
* Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
* A caring and professional attitude
* Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection
* Flexible, reliable, and a team player
