Equans is looking for an Electrical Supervisor to join our team in Birmingham on a permanent basis for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. This is a full time role working 39 hours per week. This rota is structured with 4 on and 4 off - 2 days 07:00-19:00 and 2 nights 19:00-07:00. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview:
The role is to assist the AEM Shift Manager in the provision of Hard FM & Lifecycle Services, whilst delivering a high-quality and statutory compliant maintenance service. The role will include assisting in the operation, repair, and maintenance of electrical engineering services, in the PFI Acute hospital and supervising a multi-disciplinary team.
Impact:
The role is vital to ensure that the estate is maintained to a high compliant standard and that all statutory requirements are fully complied with and documented for all services and facilities under the control of the contract.
Complexity:
Work in collaboration with the AEM Shift Manager, to provide an efficient and cohesive service across the Estate for all services with a specialty in the electrical discipline.
Deputise for the AEM Shift Manager in their absence.
Supervise the day-to-day performance of the team including Planned, Corrective and Reactive maintenance tasks.
Supervising and directing staff in a safe and efficient manner.
Deliver training to staff on relevant subjects as appropriate so experience is gained (e.g., toolbox talks & trade specific subject matter).
Regularly meet with directly employed staff (collectively irrespective of their trade function and individually) to discuss performance and complete employee appraisals.
Manage absence and utilization within the team effectively ensuring the rota is covered as necessary.
Ensure that planned and scheduled preventative maintenance activities for buildings, plant and equipment using the Maximo system or other works management system, are compliant with Statute, Contract Requirements, Regulations, ACOPs and Guidance (HTMs).
Responsible for specific elements of budgetary control and give additional assistance with regular stock takes and asset list refreshes.
Ensuring that all Response and Rectification times are met, and repairs are undertaken diligently, with due care and without undue delay. Where there is a risk of failure to achieve SLAs swiftly, intervene and resolve via recall to work procedure for emergency repairs as required.
Carry out inspections and audits of in-house staff to ensure compliance with Contract Requirements, in a timely manner, to the required standard and documented correctly.
Working with the AEM Shift Manager to resolve incidents of non-compliance across the Estate in line with Contract and Company Requirements.
Responsible for the safety of plant, equipment and infrastructure, compliance documentation and for safe working practices.
Ensure adherence and evidence of all Statutory Standards and Regulations and Department of Health requirements.
Ensure that plant and equipment data and information is delivered in an accurate and timely manner to enable accurate Condition Surveys and assist in the subsequent Lifecycle Planning as required.
Responsible for bringing to the attention of the AEM Shift Manager and all Senior Management any unsafe working conditions, working practices, unsafe plant or equipment encountered during the execution of duties.
Responsible for the execution of any other estates and facilities related duties in an emergency/urgent situation, as directed by the AEM shift Manager or Senior Management Team.
Participate as a member of the Estates Team by achieving Authorised Person (AP) status in several disciplines as required and directed by Senior Management Team.
To undertake such other duties appropriate to the level and character of work as may reasonably be required within the department as requested by the Senior Management Team.
To attend and participate in Training courses as required and to undertake any training in the future as may be required to ensure the duties of the post are effectively carried out or as required by the Senior Management Team.
To maintain monitoring systems to ensure that maintenance standards and compliance are to the optimum.
Responsible for maintaining comprehensive maintenance and compliance records.
Assist in updating on new technology and advising on any future requirements to the staff training programme.
Carry out Monthly minimum 10% Audit checks on works carried out by the estates teams ensuring compliance, report shortfalls and training requirements.
Carrying out inspections of site tools, plant, access equipment and first aid equipment, reporting on findings and manage resolution ensuring safety and compliance.
To actively identify continuing professional development requirements and demonstrate progress towards enhancing knowledge and training.
Qualifications or Required Experience:
Essential:
Electrical Installation Approved apprenticeship with either:
o City & Guild Part 1, 2 & 3 Parts A, B, C or
o City & Guilds Parts 1, 2, 3 or
o City & Guilds Level 2, Level 3, (Level 4 desirable) or
o City & Guilds Diploma
18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations (BS Amendment)
City & Guilds Testing & Inspection Certification
City & Guilds Testing & Inspection Certification
Desirable:
ONC or National Certificate in relevant area
HNC/HND in a relevant area
IOSH/NEBOSH
MEWP Training IPAF
HTM-06- Authorised Persons for LV
Minimum of five years of LV Knowledge & experience
Minimum of three years relevant experience in an NHS environment
Previous supervisory experience
Other:
High level of verbal, written and numeric skills and must be computer literate with knowledge of CAFM systems and all Microsoft Office packages.
Must be able to supervise people, be self- motivating, able to work on own initiative, liaise and delegate effectively with staff operating in a multi-disciplinary environment.
A sound knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act, HTMs and other relevant statutory requirements will be required.
Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of technical and estates and building
issues in the provision of construction, maintenance and FM services.
Good organizational skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.
