Role Overview
The Senior Maintenance Support Technician is responsible for ensuring the safety of line inspections, asset monitoring, maintenance, renewal, and enhancements prioritisation, asset stewardship, and performance optimisation. This includes asset stewardship design, infrastructure inspection, data management, risk-based prioritisation, and safe delivery of reliability-centred maintenance.
Supporting the Principal Maintenance Support Technician, you will help maintain the Elizabeth line railway safely, efficiently, and effectively to meet performance standards. You will assist in safety-critical deployment, tactical coordination, and work prioritisation of maintenance teams, ensuring safety and reliability of track systems, and compliance with maintenance plans and standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in delivering safety inspections, compliance, work prioritisation, and tactical deployment.
* Support the establishment of intervention regimes and management of maintenance stewardship.
* Operate and maintain the infrastructure monitoring vehicle, ensuring data is integrated into asset management systems.
* Coordinate maintenance planning with operations to ensure safety, operability, and maintenance of the railway.
* Mentor and assess Maintenance Delivery staff to ensure workforce competence.
* Apply policies and procedures to meet infrastructure and asset maintenance standards.
* Implement continuous improvement models, such as Reliability Based Maintenance.
* Ensure compliance with track standards and operational requirements.
* Create and review Track Asset Intervention Plans and technical surveys.
Knowledge & Skills
* HND or equivalent qualification.
* Membership of relevant professional institutions.
* Understanding of the rail industry structure and safety standards.
* Knowledge of track systems, inspection techniques, maintenance methods, and related legislation.
* Leadership, communication, decision-making, and risk management skills.
Experience
* Experience in rail or infrastructure industries.
* Proven track maintenance and stewardship management experience.
* Experience with asset management systems, auditing, and assurance processes.
