Job Description
Join a nationally significant defence programme as a BIM Manager, where you will lead the development and deployment of information management strategies within a secure and complex environment. This role offers the opportunity to gain or enhance Security Clearance (SC) and establish yourself as a subject matter expert in BIM delivery across major programmes. You will drive digital transformation, deliver measurable client outcomes, and foster collaboration across the supply chain to maximise value and performance.
Key responsibilities
1. Develop and implement BIM strategies that align with client requirements and industry best practices
2. Author and maintain BIM documentation and workflows in accordance with ISO 19650 and the UK BIM Framework
3. Lead the rollout of BIM processes across client organisations, programmes, and individual projects
4. Communicate BIM strategies and workflows effectively to internal and external stakeholders
5. Identify project risks and propose appropriate mitigation strategies
6. Collaborate with clients, design teams, and contractors to ensure consistent application of BIM methodologies from strategy to delivery
7. Manage and mentor BIM teams, fostering a culture of quality and innovation
8. Facilitate stakeholder workshops and project meetings to drive alignment and engagement
9. Conduct structured reviews and clash detection of project models using industry-standard tools
10. Analyse project data to ensure compliance with requirements and generate actionable insights
11. Produce high-quality reports and documentation to support project decision-making
12. Review and validate work produced by colleagues to maintain Turner & Townsend’s quality standards
13. Support project teams with BIM deliverables and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
14. Enhance Turner & Townsend’s BIM documentation and processes through active participation and feedback
15. Lead and contribute to bid proposals, showcasing BIM capabilities and value
16. Provide line management and professional development support to team members
17. Research emerging technologies and assess their applicability to client needs
18. Represent Turner & Townsend as a digital services ambassador within the defence sector.
19. Must be able to work on site in derby 2/3 days per week, with the potential to travel to other client sites
20. UK Security Clearance required
Qualifications
Qualifications, essential skills and experience
21. Degree-qualified in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
22. Proven experience delivering BIM strategies and solutions on complex infrastructure programmes
23. Strong understanding of BS EN ISO 19650 standards and the UK BIM Framework
24. Familiarity with international BIM standards and their application in secure environments
25. Proficient in developing and maintaining BIM documentation, workflows, and implementation plans
26. Hands-on experience with Common Data Environments (CDEs) and BIM-enabled project delivery
27. Skilled in 3D modelling software such as Revit, ArchiCAD, or similar
28. Competent in model interrogation and clash detection using tools like Navisworks or Solibri
29. Working knowledge of data visualisation platforms such as Power BI or Tableau
30. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights
31. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non-technical audiences
32. Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage deliverables, and mentor junior staff
33. Eligible for SC clearance; sole British nationality preferred due to programme sensitivity.

34. Prior experience working within defence or other secure/government environments
35. Experience contributing to bid proposals and business development activities
36. Workshop facilitation and presentation skills
37. Methodical, detail-oriented approach with a proactive and inquisitive mindset
38. Confidence in challenging assumptions and driving innovation in digital delivery.
