Regional Health & Safety (H&S) Manager – Distilling & Maturation
Position: Regional H&S Manager based in Elgin, responsible for developing and implementing a Distillation & Maturation Health and Safety Roadmap, ensuring compliance and driving improvements in safety performance across multiple sites.
Responsibilities
Strategic Partnering & Engagement
* Trusted partner to site leaders, building environments where safety is second nature and people feel empowered to speak up and shape solutions.
* Shaping a culture where health and safety is a tool for success, enabling good work rather than hindering it.
* Scanning the horizon to stay ahead of regulatory change, emerging risks, and evolving best practices.
People Leadership
* Lead and support safety advisors in the region, helping them grow in confidence and develop their skills.
* Build a trusted, supported team proud of the difference they make.
Cultural Maturity
* Enhance the health and safety framework, shaping a simple, human roadmap that focuses on what matters.
* Create a culture of shared ownership where safety lives in every role, decision, and conversation.
Standards & Systems
* Support high‑hazard risk and COMAH compliance through real conversations, checks, and leadership.
* Oversee operational development and deployment of management systems and software platforms.
* Manage contractor relationships, setting clear expectations and ensuring shared safety ownership.
Change Management
* Drive proactive engagement in site changes, ensuring health and safety thinking is embedded early.
Training & Development
* Guide teams from lagging indicators to learning insights using data and real‑world experience.
* Build capability at every level, coaching others to think critically about risk and care for their teams.
* Champion learning over blame, leading investigations focused on understanding, improvement, and trust.
Qualifications & Background
* Genuine care for people and belief that safety enables good work.
* Professional Health and Safety qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH) and experience in developing and implementing health and safety management systems, policies, and procedures.
* Proven experience in a similar role across multiple sites, managing competing priorities and building a high‑performing team.
* Natural relationship builder with excellent communication, coaching, and facilitation skills.
* Experience in incident analysis and risk assessment methodologies, familiar with human factors and Human and Organisational Performance (HOP) principles.
