Mechanical Design Engineer
My client designs and manufactures bespoke equipment. They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Southampton on a permanent basis.

Salary: GBP 30,000 – 40,000 (dependent on experience)
Roles and Responsibilities
* Being responsible for the design and development of various electromechanical products.
* Using Inventor 3D CAD software for day‑to‑day design work.
* Developing ideas from concept to production.
* Creating models and prototypes.
* Liaising with clients and developing solutions for design specifications.
* Collaborating with different departments to ensure the smooth delivery of projects.
* Maintaining technical drawings and documentation.
* Providing technical guidance and support.
* Supporting product testing, verification and validation.
Qualifications and Skills
* At least 1–3 years' experience in a similar design/mechanical engineering position.
* Strong 3D CAD skills, ideally in Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo or similar.
* Experience designing sheet metal, precision equipment, machinery or electronic products.
* Degree qualified or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
* Knowledge of a variety of materials (sheet metal, injection‑moulded plastics, etc.).
* Experience designing products from concept to production.
* Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Proficient with MS Office.
* Excellent organisational skills and time‑management skills.
* Ability to work well alone and as part of a small multidisciplinary team.
