About the Role
We are hiring an Engineering Manager to lead a growing team of 25+ engineers in Europe. The role focuses on building culture, developing engineers, and ensuring high quality delivery with minimal process friction. You’ll work closely with technology leadership, hold hands‑on coding, and set systems that empower your team.
Responsibilities
* Provide feedback on product and technical specifications to help engineers refine scope and improve quality.
* Grow engineers so they can own large, loosely defined projects and deliver with little intervention.
* Debug customer issues, ship small bug fixes, and improve developer experience while staying off the critical path.
* Improve data generation and simulation for demo accounts, impacting product, QA, and sales.
* Build and maintain automation that enables PR approvals and other engineering workflows.
* Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing development of a team of 5–6 direct reports.
* Maintain a technical presence, including writing code, reviewing tests, and keeping up‑to‑date with the codebase.
* Champion a culture of ownership, autonomy, and continuous improvement across engineering.
Qualifications
* Strong technical background with the ability to discuss infra, backend, and frontend deeply.
* Passion for management problems, coaching, and building systems that enable teams to thrive.
* High coding standards and willingness to give detail‑level feedback to even senior engineers.
* Excellent communicator who can navigate differing viewpoints and influence change.
* Deep understanding of what makes exceptional engineers and experience recruiting and growing them.
* Comfortable building teams that make product decisions independently while you provide strategic direction.
* Thrives in high‑trust, high‑autonomy environments and can work across multiple hats.
* Experience managing a small engineering team (no more than 6 direct reports).
* Regular coding practice and up‑to‑date on technology.
* Drive to lead a culture that rejects rigid process in favor of ownership and innovation.
Benefits
* Competitive salary and equity.
* 10‑year exercise window for stock options.
* Unlimited PTO with a recommended minimum of four weeks per year.
* Generous equipment, software, and office furniture budget.
* £100 per month education budget (conf. coverage with manager approval).
