What is the job role? We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a small multi-disciplined team of engineers to be based in our Inverness office. This role is office based but will require occasional travel to other offices and site locations as required. Hybrid working may be discussed. This position is responsible for actively participating in the design, development, testing, and production of existing & new Gael Force Group products, as well as producing design, test, build & customer documentation. This position will be focussed on products and systems some of which involve integration with electrical and electronic engineering in the challenging dynamic marine environment. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Development of new and current range of products in conjunction with the Product Development team. Provide engineering expertise to assist within your mechanical skill set in the development of new designs to aid the company’s support, development and expansion of product range. Engineering support of our wide range of products, inclusive of supporting documentation (internal and external). Produce drawings and supporting technical documentation as required to support products under development. Maintain clear, concise and accurate records. Participate in project design evaluation procedure. Conduct Site visits and investigations as required. Participate in planning, programming and engineering support of project works. Liaise with project client as required on all aspects of applicable contracts including attending site and contract meetings as required. Liaise with suppliers as required for development of new and existing products. Prepare and amend bills of materials for new and updated products. Identify and resolve product improvement and reliability issues. Ensure that products meet and or exceed customer expectations. Adhere to design documentation. Oversee the investigation of fault reports and possible solutions. Liaise with all internal and external stakeholders as required. Work to all relevant Company Policies and Procedures. What you’ll need: Essential: Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline. Experience of mechanical product specification. Understanding of mechanical engineering. Experience with CAD packages. Excellent IT Skills. Organisational and Management skills. Time management and strong organisational qualities. Ability to work under pressure. The ability to delegate as appropriate. Willingness to travel and work away from home occasionally. Excellent demonstrable writing and communications skills. Good initiative and ability to work under low level of supervision. Good team player. Driving licence. Desirable: Engineering development experience/training. Experience of FEA. Experience in marine environment. Understanding of the Aquaculture industry.
