Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial and cost‑management functions across major retail projects, including Amazon and John Lewis. This is a senior position suited to someone confident managing complex packages, liaising with high‑profile clients, and driving commercial success on fast‑paced schemes.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the full commercial lifecycle of large retail construction projects, from procurement through final accounts
* Prepare and oversee cost plans, valuations, variations, and financial reporting
* Lead subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and contract administration
* Maintain strong client relationships with Amazon and John Lewis stakeholders
* Provide commercial guidance to project teams to ensure budgets, forecasts, and margins are achieved
* Assess risks, identify cost‑saving opportunities, and implement commercial strategies
* Mentor junior QS staff and support team development
* Ensure compliance with contractual, legal, and financial standards
Skills & Experience
* 5+ years experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally with major retail or logistics projects
* Strong understanding of NEC/JCT contracts
* Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
* Proven ability to manage large‑scale project finances independently
* Strong communication and stakeholder‑management capabilities
* Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent (RICS desirable but not essential)
