Global Travel Retail (GTR) is a crucial channel for William Grants & Sons (WGS) as it plays a key role in haloing our brands to deliver stronger brand equity. We have some of the most sought-after brands in the category: Glenfiddich Singe Malt Scotch, Hendrick’s Gin, Monkey Shoulder to name just a few. GTR is arguably one of the most engaging channels for consumers, showcasing our luxury credentials, whilst driving commercial value. The WGS GTR vision is: when journeying through airports our brands will stand out through their exceptional visibility and experiences that build unparalleled desire. Our mission is to be clear category leaders in Single Malts and Gin, by being the number 1 partner of choice for our customers; and we are well on the way to achieving our mission.

The Category Development team is central to achieving the WGS GTR mission. In this role, you will be responsible for building collaborative relationships with our customers to deliver value for the triple win: value for our shoppers, our customers and WGS. You will lead the agenda for range and space gains with our key customers, leading to market share gains for our brands. You will support the delivery of the GTR commercial plan by analysing trends to drive growth. You will support the Route to Consumer (RTC) agenda by driving distribution gains and high execution standards.

Main Responsibility

* Partner commercial teams to lead the category development agenda with customers. Embed the Category Strategy and align customer plans with the platforms for future category growth.
* Develop & foster collaborative relationships with customers. Be the number 1 partner of choice for range and space reviews with key strategic customers, to gain increased visibility for our brands, whilst growing our customer’s category RSV.
* Own the RTC agenda in your region to deliver improved execution standards (distribution, visibility and quality).
* Embed the Physical Availability Roadmap internally with WGS commercial teams and customers to win market share.
* Support best in class category-based selling to achieve new listings with customers and support our ‘big bet’ brand plans, ensuring all plans are routed in category insight.
* Analyse data trends to deliver actionable insights and agile business performance management: grow our depletions & market share; support improved activation planning, better measurement & evaluation (M&E) and investment efficiencies.
* Provide a deeper level of shopper understanding for key passenger nationalities to drive greater footfall, conversion (penetration) and higher spend on our categories and brands.
* Support to drive best in class category capability in GTR and drive positive reputation within the WGS business.

Our Ideal Candidate

* Category development experience, with range review experience ideally
* Customer experience with direct head office relationships
* Strong analytical skills to turn data into actionable insights
* Strong communication and cross-function stakeholder management skills
* Ability to prioritise and focus on key deliverables
* Culture sensitivity and adaptability
