Tees Valley Research Alliance (TVRA) is a shared R&D service for North Tees and Hartlepool and South Tees Hospitals The post is formally hosted by South Tees Hospitals but the post holder will support both trusts in the TVRA and could be based at either of these locations.

The post holder will be responsible for the administration and delivery of systems to support the approvals process for research studies in line with the UK Policy Framework and HRA processes. The post holder will provide support to investigators and teams from feasibility stage to end of study. They will attend study meetings including study set up discussions and site selection visits. They will promote a strong culture of research among all staff within the Trust and promote growth in Trust income from research activity.

Main duties of the job

Provide administration support for the 2 TVRA sites which includes:

1. In collaboration with the Deputy Research Governance Manager, manage the feasibility and review process of research applications, facilitating fast and accurate completion of local capacity and capability checks and monitor the process to ensure performance targets are met and maintain the Local Portfolio Management System (LPMS) database.
2. Contribute to and maintenance of a register of Trust-wide research activity ensuring that the database is compatible with local and national systems to enable the fulfilment of statutory monitoring requirements.
3. Assist the R&D Office team in the archiving of closed research studies.
4. Be an active member of the Trusts Senior Research Team Committee and make recommendations as appropriate.
5. To take lead responsibility for the development and maintenance of the R&D intra-net site.
6. To build strong relationships with staff in other R&D departments, Chief Investigators, Principal Investigators, and other research staff to identify their needs in meeting all the responsibilities imposed by UKCRN Operating Guidelines, Department of Health legislation and Government Frameworks.
7. Demonstrate procedures and systems to new starters, other members of the R&D staff and other member organisations of the Research Network as required,
8. Contribute to the development and update of policies and standard operating procedures within R&D.

14. Experience of complex administration tasks preferably in a healthcare / academic environment.

17. Experience of effective dissemination of information to raise awareness of service provision and requirements

18. Advanced computer/ keyboard skills and working knowledge of computer based packages Word and Excel needed for ability to access, input and retrieve information onto a computer and monitoring of trials patients.

20. Ability to understand and interpret complex government legislation and guidelines.
21. Organisational and time management skills to manage and deliver a range of tasks and projects to tight deadlines
