Job Title: Commercial Manager Location: Hertfordshire (with occasional travel to project sites) Contract Type: Permanent About the Role We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Commercial Manager to join our team, supporting a portfolio of rail infrastructure projects in partnership with Network Rail. Based in Hertfordshire, this permanent role offers the opportunity to play a key part in the successful delivery of high-profile rail contracts, ensuring commercial excellence and compliance throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Lead all commercial activities across assigned rail projects, ensuring alignment with Network Rail frameworks and governance. Manage contract administration, including NEC3/4 contracts, change control, early warnings, and compensation events. Provide accurate and timely cost reporting, forecasting, and budget management. Support tendering and procurement processes, including subcontractor engagement and contract negotiation. Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities, ensuring mitigation strategies are in place. Collaborate closely with project managers, planners, and engineers to ensure commercial objectives are met. Prepare and present commercial reports to internal stakeholders and client representatives. Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and client requirements. Requirements Proven experience in a commercial management role within the rail or infrastructure sector. Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts and Network Rail procedures. Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills. Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience). Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, ICES) is desirable.
