Role - Mechanical Contracts Manager — Major Carbon Neutral Transition Project\n\nLocation: Gatwick Airport\nSalary: Excellent package, including lodge and travel expenses, bonus, car or car allowance + long-term project commitment (5 years)\n\nAbout the Opportunity\n\nMech Electrics Ltd are proud to be the retained recruitment partner for the UK’s leading specialist in delivering complex, high-value energy infrastructure and decarbonisation projects.\n\nWe are recruiting for a Mechanical Contracts Manager to work on a landmark, multi-phase infrastructure and energy project.\nThis transformative programme will transition all property assets across the estate to carbon neutral operation by 2030 — a high-profile, nationally significant undertaking.\n\nThe Project\n\nAt the heart of this £250M programme is the construction of a £75M Major Energy Centre, incorporating:\n\n * Air Source and Heat Source Pumps\n\n * District Heating Network covering the entire airport estate\n\n * Comprehensive Energy Upgrades to existing and new buildings\n\n * Complete Electrical Infrastructure Overhaul — enabling a fully electric campus, with infrastructure to support plant, machinery, vehicles, and EV charging networks\n\nThis is a complex, multi-disciplinary project that will shape the future of sustainable infrastructure delivery in the UK.\n\nThe Role\n\n * Relevant qualification & experience within building services/renewable energy sector\n\n * The management of multiple projects simultaneously, by liaising with individual project managers across the site on their progress to programme\n\n * Any airport experience is highly desirable\n\n * Sizeable project experience and proven Project Management background\n\n * Management and delivery of Client expectations\n\n * Project reporting\n\n * Management of directly employed resources including cost plan/bonus schemes\n\n * Understanding of commercial practices and ordering of materials\n\n * Delivery of projects with complex/sectional programmes\n\n * Management of specialist subcontract packages\n\n * Good computer skills\n\n * Motivated, driven and able to manage own time\n\n * Good communication skills & ability to manage teams\n\nCandidate Profile\n\nWe’re looking for a senior, proven leader with:\n\n * Experience of complex MEP projects — ideally incorporating Energy Centres, District Heating, and Electrical Infrastructure\n\n * A strong understanding of carbon reduction technologies, modern infrastructure systems, and airport or estate-wide projects\n\n * Experience driving a project from 'cradle to grave'\n\n * A collaborative, forward-thinking, and pragmatic leadership style\n\nBenefits\n\n * Be part of a high-profile, nationally significant project that will garner major public attention\n\n * Join the UK’s leading specialist contractor in sustainable infrastructure — with in-house design, commercial, pre-construction, and operational delivery expertise\n\n * Enjoy a long-term, 5-year role on a complex, flagship programme\n\n * Enhance your CV with a career-defining project in the decarbonisation and infrastructure sector\n\nAll applications will be handled in strict confidence
