JOB DETAILS CONTRACT TYPE: 9 weeks trainee contract
DEPARTMENT: BBC Studios Specialist Factual Unit
LOCATION: Pacific Quay, Glasgow.
Applicants will be shortlisted and interviewed before final selection. Please upload your CV, a supporting statement (max 300 words), plus a link to work you have cut (within the screening section) by July 25th 2025.
Interviews will take place around beginning to mid August.
The scheme will commence at the end of September 2025.
This trainee programme is aimed at those who are underrepresented in the TV industry: those who are either deaf, disabled and/or neurodivergent, from Black, Asian or minority ethnic communities or from Iower socio-economic backgrounds.
You should be based in Scotland and you will be expected to work in the Glasgow office.

BBC Studios is recruiting for the next candidate to join This Farming Life's innovative editor trainee scheme. The trainee will work for 9 weeks across a single episode and alongside an experienced edit team on BBC2's much loved documentary series. The training will be based in Glasgow, with the placement starting at the end of September 2025.
BBC Studios values diversity, both onscreen and off, with a key aim being to foster a range of perspectives in our storytelling.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The trainee will work alongside an existing team in an extended edit to allow for a constructive and fully supported experience. They will cut their own stories and sequences for a broadcast episode, with mentoring from the editor, edit producer, series producer and executive producer, and gain access to feedback sessions with the exec and commissioners.

We are looking for applicants who are passionate about documentaries and factual television and who have the potential to become leading film editors on high-end productions. The training is not designed to be a technical course in editing techniques but will centre around the art of storytelling in post-production. To that end applicants must have the passion and potential for crafting narrative as well as solid experience using Avid.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT: To give the junior editors valuable experience and coaching to help them transition into fully fledged factual off line editors
To increase the talent pool of editors in Scotland from underrepresented backgrounds.
To establish new talent who could potentially return to work on This Farming Life
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Previous experience as a junior or assembly editor
A passion for observational documentary
Confident on Avid
