Role Purpose
The EYFS Teaching Assistant will support children aged 3–5 in Nursery and Reception. This involves assisting teachers with both adult-led and child-initiated activities, and providing one-to-one or small group support for children with additional needs.
Supporting children with SEN and EAL is a key responsibility. You will help children engage with the curriculum, develop social and emotional skills, and build independence in a structured, inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of EYFS curriculum through play-based and structured learning activities
* Assist with phonics, early literacy, numeracy, and creative development
* Provide targeted support for pupils with SEN, EAL, or social-emotional challenges
* Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and self-regulation
* Support classroom routines, transitions, snack time, and outdoor learning
* Observe, assess, and record children’s progress in line with EYFS objectives
* Collaborate effectively with teachers, SENCO, external specialists, and parents
* Maintain safeguarding, health, and safety standards at all times
* Support the emotional wellbeing and social development of all children
